Ingredients

Matcha latte

  • 2 tsp. matcha powder
  • 1 cup milk of choice , I use coconut milk in the video.
  • 1 tbsp. white sugar , or you can use syrup
  • ice cubes

Matcha boba

  • 2 tsp. matcha powder
  • 1 cup milk of choice , I use fresh milk for this version. It gives lovely seperated layers.
  • 3 tbsp. cooked boba pearls , soaked in white syrup
  • ice cubes , optional

Instructions

Matcha latte

  • Put the matcha powder into a bowl. Add a little bit of hot (but not boiling) water. Use a matcha whisk to mix the matcha powder and water until it forms a smooth paste.
  • If you are using white sugar like me, add the sugar to the mixture and continue whisking it for a while until the sugar is dissolved. If you are using syrup, add it in the next step.
  • Iced version: Place enough ice cubes, then pour in the milk. Followed by the matcha mixture.  You can also change the sequence for a different looking.
  • Warm version: Warm your milk on the stove or in a microwave until hot. Froth the milk until it’s foamy if you prefer a frothy latte.  Pour the hot milk at the bottom, then top with the matcha paste on top. Stir until well combined.

Matcha Bubble Milk tea

  • Cook the boba pearls: Cook the boba according to the package instructions: Recommend using a half-cooking and half-resting method: cook the pearls in water for about 20 minutes, then let them rest for another 15-20 minutes. Transfer out and rinsing under running water to remove extra starch.
  • Mix the boba pearls with the preferred sweetener. Recommend honey or simple syrup.
  • Put the matcha powder into a bowl. Add a little bit of hot (but not boiling) water. Use a matcha whisk to mix the matcha powder and water until it forms a smooth paste.
  • Iced version: place cooked boba pearls at the bottom of the glass. Then add enough ice cubes. Pour in cool milk or sweetener. Mix well before enjoying.
  • Warm version: warm your milk on the stove or in a microwave until hot. Put the cooked boba at the bottom of a glass. Pour milk first and then the matcha mixture. Add simple syrup or honey to taste.

Notes

Note: cooked boba pearls are always soaked in simple syrup, so we skip the extra syrup or sweetener. Add some if necessary.
