Ingredients

Matcha green tea powder
Matcha is a finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves, sometimes also known as green tea powder. The leaves are shade-grown before being harvested and stone-ground into a fine powder. Only the tenderest tea leaves will be selected to make Matcha powder.
There are several famous Japanese matcha powders that have great quality including KENKO,Ippodo Tea and Encha.
Top-tier matcha is a treat for the senses. It boasts a bright, verdant color and a fine, silky texture. On the palate, it unfolds a symphony of sweet and creamy notes, underscored by a touch of bitterness. When choosing matcha, go for the pure, brightly colored variants and steer clear of those with dull, yellowish colors or unnecessary additives.
Sweetened red beans
If have sweetened red beans by hand, you can add the sweetened red beans on top of the matcha milk tea to make a lovely red bean matcha milk tea.
Sweetened red bean is the most popular partner for all matcha drinks and desserts. It is made from azuki beans, a type of small red bean widely cultivated throughout East Asia.
The beans are boiled until they become very soft and then sweetened, often with sugar or honey.
In East Asia, sweetened red beans are used in a variety of dishes including pastries, buns, and in bubble tea or as a topping for shaved ice desserts. It’s also often paired with matcha (green tea) flavor in many Japanese sweets.
Boba pearls if you are making matcha boba tea
You will need boba pearls if you are going to make matcha boba tea. Boba pearls in most cases, are chewy, round balls made from tapioca starch. Check our tutorial to make some at home or purchase from online shops. There are also instant boba pearls, which do not require cooking and quick boba pearls only need 5 minutes of cooking.
Recommended syrup for boba pearls here is simple syrup instead of common brown sugar syrup because it will not influence the green color. Otherwise, you can use brown sugar syrup to create a light brown color.
Dairy options
- Fresh milk, condensed milk, and cream are all great options for this drink.
- Almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, and even oat milk can also be used.
Fresh milk is denser so it can hold separated layers after pouring in matcha liquid while other plant-based milk will emerge with the color very quickly.
