If you are a milk tea lover, you must try this golden brown Osmanthus milk tea. It is different from traditional milk tea due to the strong taste of Osmanthus.
You can make a mess dirty milk tea which is extremely popular in Asian countries.
The best tea base for Osmanthus milk tea is either green tea or oolong tea. I believe most oolong lovers heard about a type Osmanthus oolong tea. It is a fragrant and flavorful type of tea that combines the rich, complex taste of oolong tea with the delicate aroma and subtle sweetness of osmanthus flowers.
If you prefer a pure white milk tea, use regular green tea or jasmine green tea. Or if you accept a dark color, choose oolong tea. That’s our version for this recipe
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp. Osmanthus syrup
- 1 tbsp. green tea or Osmanthus oolong tea leaf
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 3/4 cup hot boiling water + ice cubes for cooling down the tea liquid
Step by Step
- Pour the hot boiling water over the tea leaves (the type you choose) and let it steep for about 5-7 minutes. Once brewed, strain the tea to remove the leaves. I always love to add some ice cubes to cool down the tea liquid quickly.
- In a serving glass, place in Osmanthus syrup and rotate the cup to make the syrup creating a messing looking. Then add ice cubes and other tablespoon of Osmanths syrup.
- Pour tea base we made in the step 1. Followed with milk of choice. If you are using coconut milk, this can be a vegan friendly milk tea.
Cook’s Note
- Replace the jasmine green tea with Osmanthus Oolong tea, then you will get a oolong Osmantus milk tea.
- Add some cooked boba pearls to make it as a Osmanthus Boba drink.
