I am a big fan of milk tea in different colors, but only for natural colors. For example, strawberries can make milk tea a lovely pink color, while matcha can bring a refreshing green. The deep, purplish-blue hue of the blueberry mixture gives the drink a visually appealing, striking, inviting color.

Cook the blueberry jam

The first step is to make blueberry jam. The fruity sourness of the blueberries may influence the milk texture.

Pour the blueberries into a pot and mash them with a muddler. Then, pour in the white sugar and turn the heat to low to simmer. Simmer for about five minutes, remembering to stir constantly during the process to avoid burning. You can turn off the heat when the jam turns blue-purple.

In addition to the jasmine green tea base, I added a few butterfly pea flowers because they can make the drink deeper in color. You can skip this if you don’t have them by hand.

The butterfly pea flower is notable for its bright blue flowers. It is usually used to make an herbal tea that changes colors. Sometimes, these two ingredients might be combined to create a visually stunning and flavorful beverage. For example, this blueberry milk tea has the natural blue dye of the butterfly pea flowers and the fruity flavor of blueberries.

Optionally, boba pearls or other sinker can be added. You can use regular tapioca pearls or popping boba.
