Delicious and good-looking Osmanthus Jelly. You may be unfamiliar with this golden brown flower tea coming from China. Osmanthus is a flower of the osmanthus plants with a strong, sweet, floral, and slightly woody smell.
Osmanthus Jelly is made with this type of flower, either dried or in syrup. I will introduce two versions, but I am using a shortcut Osmanthus syrup method since I made a large batch of syrup days ago.
Agar powder is my favorite agent for jellies. You can also use it to make crystal boba. Agar is derived from a plant-based agent made from red algae, and it sets at room temperature and remains stable even at higher temperatures compared with gelatine. So that’s the ideal option for this jelly.
Ingredients
1 cup water
2 tbsp. Osmanthus syrup
1/2 tsp. agar powder
Step by Step Instruction
Making this jelly at home is super easy. Mix the syrup with water and agar powder.
Simmer on low heat until the agar powder is completely dissolved. Then, pour it out into a smaller bowl or a rectangle container. Set aside for 4 hours.
Cut the jelly into bite-size cubes.
Finally, cut the jelly into bite-size cubes.
You can enjoy the jelly directly or use it as a decoration for desserts and beverages. We will make a lovely golden sunset drink with butterfly pea milk.
